How To Survive Being Sick In A Large Family

February 10, 2018

I am writing today from a place of experience! We have been trudging through these steps of surviving being sick in a large family for three weeks now (and we still have four children make that two children who haven’t caught the bug yet!!!)

You know the drill. When one person catches a virus, usually at least half of the family ends up affected. Unless it’s the dreaded stomach bug. In our house, if one gets a stomach bug, we all eventually get it!

As with just about anything large family-related, early preparation and a good mindset are the two things that matter most. Let’s go more in depth into exactly what I keep on hand, a few new tips I’ve picked up during our current epidemic, and what to do when it feels like everything is just falling apart (if you stay in a sickness cycle long enough, this will happen!)

Get tips from a mother of nine on dealing with sickness in a large family!

How to Get Your Kids Helping Around the House – Large Family Management

November 16, 2017

If you are trying to figure out how to get your kids helping around the house, then great! You are in the right place.

Teaching children to be responsible goes hand-in-hand with giving them daily chores, and expecting them to complete those chores well.

Years and years ago a wise mother of nine children told me “If you do your job properly now while they are young, the more children you have over the age of 8, the easier your job will be.”

This Mom knew what she was talking about, she had nine children, and several of them were teenagers, a few had successfully launched into independent life outside of the home, and she still had a few in the middle age range.

She had done her job well when each child was young, teaching each child that he or she was expected to help with household chores, and then she taught each child HOW to help with household chores. And then she had them doing those household chores. All three steps are important.

September 21, 2017

Last week, we talked about what, in my opinion, is the most important factor when potty training your child, his age. Today, I’m going to give you some potty training tips that are super important as well, and they involve your mindset.

Like I said in my first post about potty training, it can be easy and breezy. It doesn’t have to be a long, drawn out process that makes you want to turn in your mom card at the end of the day.

Let’s discuss the three major mindset hacks that will bring you and your child to the other side of potty training quickly and easily.

How to Make Potty Training Easy With a Mom of 9

September 15, 2017

I’ve potty trained seven children so far. The method that I have used each time has been quick, painless, and relatively accident-free in about one day’s time. I always give myself a whole weekend, but the actual training period has rarely gone over one day.

Potty training does not have to be the dramatic, messy, expensive, inconvenient production that it often turns into. It can really be cheap, quick, and painless.

But there are a few keys to success. If you leave out the most important parts, you are most likely going to be in the “training” stage for a long time.
